Underbed Shoe Storage And Other Shoe Storage Options

Many people have way more shoes than they actually wear. The shoes that you wear all the time need to be easy to get to, but the others can be stored away in underbed shoe storage or one of the other shoe storage options that are available. Figure out where you have space to store the 80 percent of the shoes you own that you only wear on rare occasions and find the shoe storage option that will work best for you.

Shoes that you don't need to get to very often can be stored in clear boxes that are all the same size. These can then be used either as underbed shoe storage or stacked together in a closet. Make them clear so you can see what is in them, and of the same type so they look nice. If you decide not to get clear boxes, you can also put photos of the shoes on the ends of the boxes so you still can tell what is in each box without having to open them all. Then you just need to grab the appropriate box whenever you want to wear a particular pair of shoes. You can put them either on the floor of the closet or on shelves in the closet, whichever is most convenient for your purposes.

Shoes that you want to be easily accessible can be stored in shoe racks, which can be found made out of laminate, melamine coated particle board, plastic coated metal, or real cedar or other wood. You can put these against the wall or in the closet. Sometimes it helps if you raise up the closet rod so you have more room for a taller rack. These are usually made in 24 inch widths, and you should be able to fit about three pairs of shoes along one row of the rack since they take about eight or nine inches each if you store them side by side.

Underbed shoe storage is very convenient since most people are not using that space for anything else. There are special units made to fit in that space, or you can raise up the bed with special bed risers or casters if you want to be able to fit taller units under your bed. These shoe storage options usually have hinged lids and are made of either rigid or soft plastic. This is a good type of storage for shoes that you don't wear very often.
